Services
I maintain Linux services locally and on Oracle Cloud. Docker Compose lets me describe services in configuration; Proxmox gives me virtual machines for experimentation.
Pi-hole handles DNS filtering, Tailscale gives me remote access to home devices, and Traefik routes requests to services. Wazuh, Prometheus and Grafana help me look at logs and system performance.
DNS troubleshooting
For DNS troubleshooting, I check which resolver a device is using, inspect the Pi-hole query log, then compare a local record with a public lookup. That separates a DNS issue from an unavailable application.
# Example diagnostic commands; use your resolver address.
nslookup pi.home.arpa 192.168.1.100
nslookup example.com 192.168.1.100 These are illustrative commands, not an export of my network configuration. The diagram groups services; it is not a map of firewall rules or physical connections.
